CNC Milling

Use a multi-point rotating tool to remove material from the workpiece. Basic mills consist of a 3-axis system (X, Y and Z), which is still one of the most popular and widely used machining processes. In 3-axis machining, the workpiece remains fixed, and the rotating tool cuts along the x, y, and z axes. Meanwhile, most newer mills can accommodate two additional axis, 4-axis CNC machining and 5-axis CNC machining have higher versatility, and they are often used in the production of high-precision parts.

CNC Turning

Use a single-point cutting tools to remove material from the rotating workpiece. In CNC turning, the CNC machine, typically a lathe or turning machine, feeds the cutting tool in a linear motion along the surface of the rotating workpiece, removing material around the circumference until the desired diameter is achieved. Most CNC lathes consist of two axis, X and Z.

Aluminum is a highly versatile material commonly used in CNC machining due to its excellent properties. Aluminum has the following Advantages for CNC Machining prototypes
Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Aluminum is lightweight, weighing about one-third of steel. Despite its low weight, it exhibits remarkable strength. This high strength-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for applications in automotive and aerospace industries.
Machinability: Aluminum alloys are easier to machine compared to many other metals. They are soft and chip easily, allowing for quick and precise cutting. The excellent machinability ensures tight tolerances and accurate custom aluminum parts.
Corrosion Resistance: Aluminum naturally resists corrosion in various atmospheric conditions. Anodizing can further enhance its corrosion resistance.
Common Aluminum Alloys for CNC Machining:
6061 Aluminum: This alloy is highly adaptable and commonly used. It offers good machinability, formability, and weldability. You’ll find it in frames, structural parts, and various components.
7075 Aluminum: Known for exceptional fatigue resistance and high strength, 7075 is often used in applications where durability is critical.

Stainless steel is a highly sought-after material in machining due to its exceptional properties, including high strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion. Its versatility makes it ideal for producing complex, precision parts that require both mechanical resilience and longevity. The material’s ability to maintain its integrity under various environmental conditions—ranging from extreme temperatures to exposure to chemicals—makes it a preferred choice across industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and construction.
Strength and Weight: Stainless steel boasts an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, allowing for thinner parts. It’s like the gymnast of metals—strong and lightweight!
Versatility: Stainless steel is as flexible as a yoga instructor. It can be easily formed, welded, cut, and, of course, CNC machined. Need a twist? Elemental sulfur can enhance its formability.
Corrosion Resistance: Stainless steel doesn’t rust easily. It’s like the superhero armor of metals—ready to battle the elements.
Ductility and Formability: It bends, it molds, it adapts! Austenitic stainless steels are particularly formable, making them versatile for various applications.

CNC vs. 3D Printing: What Is the Difference?

Overview of CNC Machining
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) is a common type of subtractive manufacturing, meaning it carves out needed components from large blocks of material. This technology was invented in the early 1950s, and it has since become a staple of the manufacturing industry. For this reason, you will also hear people call it traditional manufacturing.

CNC machining can produce parts that are strong and have precise dimensions. The 5 axis machining service is widely used in almost all the industrial vertical namely Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Oil and Gas, Military and Defense, Electronics, Marine, Consumer, and Commercial industries where robust parts meet extremely limiting specifications. Our Engineers are well trained and offer you the best CNC Machining Service in Hyderabad at a reasonable cost.

Overview of 3D Printing

3D printing is the popular name for additive manufacturing, which refers to building products from the bottom up, adding one layer at a time. Invented at MIT in the late 1980s, it found its first uses in prototyping, but its applications have since expanded into a variety of fields.

CNC machining is a form of subtractive manufacturing. With the help of metal CNC machine the machinist begins with a block of material, called a blank. Then we use CNC components such as spinning tools, drills and cutters to shape the blank, removing material from it. The blank can be made from plastic, wood or metal.
Subtractive manufacturing including VMC Machining Service produces a considerable amount of waste in the form of the material removed from the blank. An advantage of it is that it usually allows for greater precision when cutting and shaping a part.

Additive Manufacturing

3D printing takes an additive approach to manufacturing. Instead of cutting materials out of a blank, it adds materials to the object, one layer at a time. The layers bond together, and the printer continues to add them until the part is finished. Materials used in additive manufacturing often include resins, metal powders and plastic filaments.
Additive manufacturing produces less waste than subtractive. It also allows for more freedom and flexibility regarding the shape of a part.

Key Similarities of 3D Printing vs. CNC Machining

CNC machining and 3D printing have a few basic things in common:

  • They make 3D products based on 3D models.

  • They do so by following instructions from a computer.

  • They are compatible with STL and OBJ file types.

  • They are at the forefront of technology.

  • They are common today.
